This takoyaki chopstick rest is a piece of Mino ware made by Ihoshiro Kiln.
The sauce, mayonnaise, and green seaweed are all carefully recreated. The golden-brown color looks remarkably like the real thing — when I place it next to actual takoyaki, it sometimes looks more like takoyaki than the takoyaki itself.
There’s a small hole at the end where you can stick a toothpick. It’s a playful detail, but a practical one too — I use it to hold bamboo skewers or toothpicks when I’m making takoyaki.
Works well on its own, or paired with a spatula rest to display together. Since it comes as two connected pieces, lining up a few more would make for quite a cute little set.
